Community Classes

OBC Community Classes

We offer free classes throughout Oregon and SW Washington on the care, treatment and prevention of burn injuries. These are usually PowerPoint presentations, 1-3 hours in length, and presented by a staff member of the Oregon Burn Center. Content can be tailored to your audience and the time available; all handouts and other materials are provided free of charge.

Class descriptions

Education on Electrical Injuries - This one-hour class focuses on what electrical injuries look like and reinforces safe work practices to prevent burns from electrical contact. Held at your worksite. Class Objectives

Prevention of Burn Injuries Class - Ideal for middle school and high school groups, this class presents information about common causes of burn injuries, how to prevent burn injuries in the house, and basic first aid techniques. Held at your location. Class Objectives

Family Burn Education Class - This three-hour class is held at the Oregon Burn Center and uses positive interaction and non-graphic, hands-on activities to teach families about the life-long consequences of receiving a burn injury. A certificate of completion is given at the end of class.

Kids and Burns - a short interactive PowerPointTM program designed to help educators teach preschoolers basic information about preventing burn injuries and practicing fire safety.

Prevent Scalds in your Kitchen - an interactive PowerPointTM program designed to teach parents, caregivers and educators easy ways to keep children from receiving severe burn injuries in the kitchen.

Static-cling Decals - fun decals for kids to post in their kitchens and bathrooms to keep families safe from burn injuries
