Essential to the health of all
Below are some of reasons why Legacy Health is essential to the health of our region.
This is our Legacy ... a history
Legacy's roots go back more than 100 years. Our two largest hospitals were founded (Good Samaritan in 1875 and Emanuel in 1912) by faith-based groups seeking to care for the growing city. As the decades went on, those two hospitals grew into larger health organizations. In 1989 they merged to create Legacy Health System. Most recently, Silverton Health joined the Legacy family. Silverton Health facilities and clinics now carry the Legacy name.
What is now known as “Legacy Health” is one of the largest private-sector employers in the Portland metropolitan area, with a service area extending north to the Vancouver area and south to the mid-Willamette Valley.
