The Safety Center

Safety at play
Bike/sports helmet sales and fittings
Each year, Legacy provides more than 5,000 helmets for children and adults who bike, skateboard or snowboard, at a nominal or no fee, based on need. We also hold regular helmet clinics at which we sell helmets, adjust the fit and demonstrate how to wear them properly.
Beaches, boats and water sports — what could be more fun for children of all ages? But it's up to us to make sure the fun is safe.
Safety on the move
Car safety seats
When properly installed, car safety seats are about 70 percent effective in reducing fatalities and hospitalization for children.
- Installation: Most kids are not properly buckled in to their car safety seats. Our innovative car safety seat clinics will help keep your kids safe as they ride. Make an appointment to have your child's car safety seat checked by calling 503-413-4005.
- Recycling: Legacy will recycle your used/outdated car safety seats and dispose of the materials in an environmentally correct manner.

Learn CPR and AED
Legacy offers a course for lay rescuers who might be responsible for providing CPR during the critical minutes before professional help arrives. You will learn adult, child and infant CPR, automated external defibrillator (AED) operation, relief of airway obstruction, and how to recognize medical emergencies.
Barbecues, campouts and fireworks can mean summer fun — but be sure they don't cause burns. Every summer, thousands of Americans suffer burn injuries. Some of these are minor, but many require a long hospital stay.
