About CME Portal
Legacy Health Continuing Medical Education has implemented a CME Portal for users to view any upcoming CME activities, claim their CME credit, and view or print certificates and transcripts from Legacy Health CME certified education.
- New 30-day Claim CME Credit Timeline and Physician CME Credit Reporting to State Medical Licensing boards.
Effective July 1, 2024, the opportunity to claim CME credit is changing to within 30 days of the activity date for all learners.
This change enables CME Services to offer a new service and report a physician’s CME credit to their primary Oregon or Washington state medical licensing board, via the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education’s (ACCME) electronic reporting system, Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS). Both Oregon Medical Board and Washington Medical Commission have designated PARS as their primary source for CME information required for re-licensure.
The Legacy Health CME Committee endorses this change for the CME Program, with the goal of reducing burdens on physicians and simplifying the audit process for boards. Participation in this reporting process requires the CME provider to compile and upload CME credit data within 30 days of the activity. Only physicians (MD/DO) are eligible to participate in the new service, as the ACCME does not accept credit data for other credentialed medical staff.
Please read the FAQ’s for detailed information for Physician learners to provide permission for CME credits to be shared with their state medical licensing boards.

New Single Sign-on with Legacy Health Credentials (Legacy issued email address and password)
Single Sign On uses Legacy health credentials (email address and password) to verify users. However, any internal Legacy Health user that does not currently have their CME account in CME Tracker associated to their Legacy Health email address, will need to sign in first, then change their email address in My Profile to their Legacy Health email (and save the profile). Otherwise, a duplicate profile will to be created, and this duplicate account will have blank required fields which will prevent you from claiming credit successfully.
If you are unsure of what email address is on file, please email us at CMERequests@lhs.org or call 503-413-3401 for assistance. Also, if you are unable to claim credit successfully, you may need help merging a duplicate account. You may also try clearing your cache by going to internet browser Settings, select Privacy, then Clear browsing data.
Non-Legacy Health CME portal users will still be able to register and sign in with their selected email and password. There is a "Forgot Password" feature to reset your password, if needed. You may also contact us if you need assistance.

Activities are organized by Specialty
To find an event, use the Navigation Menu and click on the Specialty name to choose either “Upcoming Activities” or “Claim Credit for Activities”. A “Search” field is available to filter events by keyword. If an activity applies to multiple specialties, please look under “All Other Specialties”. If an event cannot be found under any of the specialties, please contact us for assistance.
- New User Guides and QR CodesTM
The User Guides section has downloadable instructions and other information (Claim Credit Instructions and CME Portal FAQ). The Claim Credit Instructions include a universal QR CodeTM to the CME Portal’s “Featured Activities” page. A unique specialty specific code is available upon request for use on activity announcements, flyers, PowerPoint slides, etc. The specialty specific code will direct users to the claim credit site for that specialty. If you are interested in this option, contact your CME Services Coordinator or email us at CMERequests@lhs.org.
About CME
Legacy Health Continuing Medical Education provides a robust CME program to meet the educational needs of physicians and allied health care professionals on a local and regional level. Legacy Health is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The ACCME has recognized Legacy Health's exemplary CME program by awarding it Accreditation with Commendation.
Our CME programs provide high-quality, evidence-based educational opportunities that are designed to advance physician competence, enhance practice performance, and/or improve patient outcomes. Legacy CME is committed to promoting and facilitating physician lifelong learning and continuing professional development (CPD).
The format used to deliver these activities include:
- Regularly scheduled series (departmental grand rounds, tumor boards, case conferences)
- Single and multi-day conferences
- Webinars
- Internet Searching and Learning
Mission
Continuing Medical Education at Legacy Health seeks to provide high-quality, evidence-based educational opportunities that are designed to advance physicians’ competence, enhance practice performance, and/or improve patient outcomes.
Content areas
Content will be based on strategically focused knowledge gaps, quality and patient safety initiatives, practical evidence, examples of best clinical practice and Maintenance of Certification guidelines directed to a broad variety of medical conditions and innovations in practice and/or procedures and specialty program certifications. The content of each activity will support one or more of the ACGME, ABMS or IOM Professional competencies.
Target audience
Legacy CME activities will focus on the needs of Legacy affiliated physician staff, and the physicians involved in interdisciplinary teams within which they practice. Additional identified learners include Advanced Practice Providers, house staff and community physicians, as well as physicians in selected distant sites. In addition, we will jointly provide CME activities with non- profit organizations, and provider-based organizations such as physician organizations, rural hospitals and physician practices.
Types of activities provided
Legacy CME activities will be offered via live programs and electronic transmissions to medical facilities primarily throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington. Educational activities will include regularly scheduled series (didactic, case-based conferences, and journal clubs), single and multi-day conferences, enduring materials, and internet point-of- care learning.
Expected results
The expected result of Legacy CME educational activities is to improve physician knowledge, competence and/or performance in practice that leads to improvement in patient outcomes. We will measure changes using a variety of evaluation methods: post session surveys that ask for a commitment to change practice/behavior, sskills-based assessment/testing, post-tests, or 6-month post session evaluations that elicit self-declared changes in clinical practice. An annual overall evaluation of the CME program will be conducted to guide on-going improvements.

Mandatory Education
CME Services has created a quick reference guide for licensees of the Oregon Medical Board and the Washington State Medical Commission. The one-page guide covers mandatory and strongly-encouraged education covering Cultural Competency, Pain Management, Suicide Risk Assessment, and Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care.
Online CME
Online CME is certified continuing medical education designed by Legacy Health where clinicians can engage in online learning relevant to their clinical practice that fits their pace and schedule. Online CME is available in a variety of formats, including computer modules, podcasts, print materials, and pre-recorded presentations.
Point of Care CME
Point-of-Care (POC) learning is an approved CME activity in which the clinician engages in self-directed, online learning on topics relevant to their clinical practice. The desired outcome of this activity is that in asking clinical questions at the point of care that can be answered using electronic Library resources, clinicians will see a change in their knowledge, competence, or performance that can be applied to their practice. Providers may complete this activity multiple times, on different clinical questions.

Q. In July 2024 the CME claim credit timeline has been changed to 30 days, What do I need to know about this change?
A. Events will be removed from the CME Portal 30 days after the CME activity occurs. After this time, CME credit will no longer be available to be claimed by learners.
Q. What action do I need to take to claim CME credit?
A. All learners should claim CME credit as soon as possible (CME credits are enabled on the same day and time as the event) using a mobile device and the provided CME QR Code or using the internet link to the CME Portal.
Q. What action do Physician learners need take to provide permission for CME credits to be shared with their state medical licensing boards?

- Select “Yes” to “Are you a Physician?”
- Enter data for all required starred (*) fields: Birthdate (mm/dd), Primary State of Licensure, and State License Number.
