Inaugural Cori Lowery Brotherton Nursing Scholarships awarded
Three Legacy Health employees recently received scholarships to pursue nursing education from a new fund within Legacy Health Foundation. Established in memory of Cori Lowery Brotherton, who graduated from the Good Samaritan School of Nursing in 1959, the scholarship fund aims to remove financial barriers for employees who are working toward a nursing degree or CNA/MA certifications.
A total of $5,000 was awarded to these three recipients in this first year of the program.

Cori was a master gardener and could "make anything grow" so, it is in the spirit that Cori's family chose to celebrate her life by establishing a fund to help other nurses grow in their careers. After working many years as a nurse, Cori became one of the first nurse practitioners in Oregon in 1975. In addition to her dedication to the nursing profession, Cori had an amazing positive attitude, giving spirit and work ethic.
