Keeping the digestive system healthy

Gastroenterology is the study and care of the organs of the digestive system and the diseases that may take place there.

Gastroenterologists are doctors who are specialists and experts in the GI tract with several additional years of training after their internal medicine residency.

Our board-certified gastroenterologists and surgeons diagnose and treat conditions of the GI tract, which includes the:

  • Esophagus
  • Stomach
  • Small and large intestine (colon)
  • Anus and rectum
  • Liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile ducts

We can help with:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Bowel incontinence
  • Constipation or diarrhea
  • Heartburn or indigestion
  • Hepatitis C
  • Rectal bleeding
  • Swallowing difficulties
  • Surgery, including robotics-assisted surgery

Early detection and prevention

Key to preventing and treating these issues is finding and diagnosing the condition. Legacy offers the best technology available for early diagnosis and prevention procedures: endoscopy; endoscopic ultrasound; PH motility used to diagnose acid reflux; and colonoscopy used to screen for and prevent colorectal cancer.
