What are infusion therapies?

Infusion therapy is a way of delivering medications or other treatments that cannot be given by mouth. Chemotherapy is one of the most commonly prescribed drug course delivered by infusion. Sometimes clinics which provide chemotherapy are referred to as "day treatment." The medication is delivered through directly into the vein. It is sometimes called intravenous or IV therapy.

Our clinics provide complete infusion therapy services in a warm, caring environment, with a highly trained staff committed to minimizing your downtime while maximizing your comfort.

  • Legacy's infusion services are part of the OHSU Knight-Legacy Health Cancer Collaborative. This collaboration with OHSU offers our patients six locations across the Portland-Vancouver metro area to receive care.
The Cancer Collaborative is an integrated community cancer program for radiation oncology, medical oncology and infusion services, serving adult patients in Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas, Columbia and Clark Counties.

The Cancer Collaborative enables Legacy Cancer Institute and the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute to provide the most advanced cancer care in multiple community locations and to more effectively use our collective resources. Patients benefit by being closer to home, getting seamless care and getting access to cutting-edge clinical trials.

Please note: A doctor's referral is necessary to receive services. A nurse then works with you, your doctor, and family if desired to identify your needs and outline a course of treatment.
