About Me:

Alar Mirka, M.D., Ph.D., Director of Clinical Research Alar Mirka, M.D., Ph.D., has been appointed Director of Clinical Research. In this newly created position, Dr. Mirka will provide the programmatic leadership and management of all clinical research activity at Legacy, including administrative support and development, mentorship of investigators, financial monitoring, and grant compliance. He will supervise the Manager of Clinical Research and the entire team of clinical research coordinators across all Legacy facilities, continuously monitor and communicate program performance, and will take the lead to develop an expanding clinical research program. Dr. Mirka has long been associated with Legacy and has twenty-five years experience as a practicing internist, most recently with Legacy Medical Group Northwest. He received his M.D. and Ph.D. (Neurophysiology) degrees from OHSU, completed an internship and residency at Good Samaritan, and was a research fellow in Neuro-otology at Good Sam. Dr. Mirka has a keen interest in research and has integrated research into his practice on an ongoing basis. He has served as the chairperson on one of Legacys Institutional Review Boards for the past five years. Hobbies include: Hiking, Volleyball
