She makes sure patients and their families understand their illness and treatment so they can make informed decisions about their health and know what to expect in the future. She strives to create a relaxed environment where patients can share their thoughts, questions, and feelings without judgment. Dr. Barnes-Rickett was inspired to enter medicine by her parents, who had rewarding careers as physicians. Medical mission trips to Honduras and Nicaragua cemented her career path. Dr. Barnes-Rickett enjoys working with a patient’s entire health team to develop the best plan for each person. She has special interests in infectious diseases and end-of-life care.
