About Me:

Duy C. Nguyen, M.D. is a board certified general thoracic surgeon who joined Legacy Health in 2022. Prior to this, he was Assistant Professor of Thoracic Surgery at UT Health San Antonio where he performed the first robotic Ivor Lewis Esophagectomy, and robotic first rib resection in the region. He completed his cardiothoracic surgery training at Baylor College of Medicine / Texas Heart Institute in Houston, Texas under Dr. David Sugarbaker after a thoracic surgery fellowship was Brigham & Women's in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Nguyen has a special interest in robotic thoracic and foregut surgery where he treats lung nodules / cancer, esophageal cancer, esophageal motility disorders (including GERD, hiatal / paraesophageal hernias, achalasia), mediastinal tumors, diaphragm paralysis, and thoracic outlet syndrome (arterial / venous / neurogenic).

The wait time was excessive due to the doctor doing rounds. Once he was with me ,he took the time to thoroughly explain the x-rays and come up with a solution for my problem.

Really enjoy having Dr Nguyen very thorough not quick to judge an took his time to come to conclusion no surgery but is open to me contacting him if I need anything else

This is my only provider whether it be Legacy PeaceHealth or any place that I go that I only wish that he was my only provider because it is such a pleasant experience ease of scheduling and he's very knowledgeable and I am confident that I'm getting the best of care for all of my visits

Dr. Nguyen was thorough and explained everything in a way I would understand well. He addressed all my questions and concerns. His assistant Louie was also one of the friendliest nurses I've ever had.
