About Me:

Dr. Bakis enjoys that in gastroenterology, the successful treatment of patients requires the integration of a patient’s story, exam and lab findings, imaging, endoscopic, and pathologic findings. He strongly believes that therapeutic endoscopy is a team sport in which colleagues in surgery, radiology, pathology, anesthesia, primary care, nursing, and other gastroenterologists trust and rely on each other to provide the best care for patients. Dr. Bakis has 15 years of experience in therapeutic endoscopy at specialty medical centers. He trained with one of the pioneers of Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) in the United States and continued to practice during a rapid expansion of endoscopic possibilities. He was able to introduce new techniques such as therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound, endoscopic vacuum therapy, and endoscopic submucosal dissection at these specialty medical centers.
