Helmet Safety
Legacy’s helmet program has provided more than 135,000 helmets to our community since it began in 1992. Just one part of TNTT’s Injury Prevention Education Program, helmet fitting and low-cost helmets are offered in a variety of settings and events. Helmets are distributed through helmet sales and events sponsored by both Legacy Health Systems and community partners. Our participation at community events includes but is not limited to: Good in the Hood, the Holiday Bike Drive, Wilsonville’s Community Fair, Sunday Parkways and many others.
Our ability to distribute large numbers of helmets is made possible by working with community partners and utilizing volunteers. Through these partnerships more people are educated about proper fitting and adjustments of bicycle and multi-sport helmets as well as the basics of traffic safety. Our helmet program is a service providing primary injury prevention through education and safety equipment.
