TeamBirth

Making Decisions Together, Empowering the Patient

What is TeamBirth?

TeamBirth is a supportive and cooperative approach to childbirth. In this model, you, as the patient, are an active part of this decision-making process throughout your pregnancy, labor, delivery and recovery. You will be fully informed at each step, so you always know what to expect and what’s happening.

With TeamBirth, you meet, or “huddle,” with your care team regularly. This begins at or around the time of your admission into the hospital. During huddles, you and others on your team ask questions, share how you’re feeling and then decide — as a group — what happens next. The progress of your birthing experience is monitored closely. Your decisions are also written on a whiteboard in your room. Everyone has a voice and no one is left out of the process — particularly you, the patient.
