TeamBirth

Making Decisions Together, Empowering the Patient

What is TeamBirth?

TeamBirth is a patient-focused approach to the birthing experience. Here, you, the patient, are actively involved in the decisions about your pregnancy, labor, delivery and after delivery. You’ll know every step of the way what will happen, and more to the point, what is happening.

With TeamBirth, you meet, or “huddle,” with your care team regularly. This begins at or around the time of your admission into the hospital. During huddles, you and others on your team ask questions, share how you’re feeling and then decide — as a group — what happens next. The progress of your birthing experience is monitored closely. Your decisions are also written on a whiteboard in your room. Everyone has a voice and no one is left out of the process — particularly you, the patient.
