Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center will acquire radiofrequency ablation technology through the Acessa, an advanced procedure used to provide the surgical treatment of uterine fibroids. Gynecologic surgeons at Mount Hood Medical Center are the first in the Legacy system to pioneer this technology.
Funds to purchase the Acessa were made possible by the generous participants of The Drive Golf Tournament, who raised nearly $145,000 during the event.
The 30th annual golf tournament was held at Stone Creek Golf Club on Sept. 6, and raised funds for Innovations in Surgery, a program focused on supporting the community hospital’s world-class care. Donors who attended this summer’s fundraiser, Denim and Diamonds, also raised an additional $50,000 for the technology.
Surgeons Audra Norris-Jacob, MD, Monica Venn, DO, and Britta Ameel, MD, will be available to provide this advanced fibroid care through Legacy Medical Group - Mount Hood Women’s Health. To learn more and schedule an appointment, visit the clinic online.
Mount Hood Medical Center is a national leader in technologically advanced surgeries, which offer better outcomes and faster healing times for patients. The hospital anticipates offering the high-tech surgery option later this fall.
Women receiving this minimally invasive fibroid surgery benefit from reduced pain, lowered risk of infection, less blood loss, fewer and smaller scars, and shorter hospitalizations and increased precision. Patients will experience quicker recovery and will be able to get back to their daily lives faster.
Fibroids appear most commonly in women ages 30 to 50 and can cause no symptoms; however, many other women can experience numerous symptoms, which can greatly impact their quality of life.
