Northwest Marrow Transplant Program
Collaboration builds life-saving connections
The Northwest Marrow Transplant Program, a collaboration between Oregon Health & Science University and Legacy Health, offers all types of blood and marrow transplantation to people throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington.
This collaboration pools the expertise of specialists at both institutions and increases the opportunities for people to benefit from the most recent advances in stem cell transplantation.
The program includes the pediatric transplantation program of Doernbecher Children's Hospital. Legacy, OHSU and Doernbecher maintain joint accreditation as Northwest Marrow Transplant Program with the Foundation of Cellular Therapy.
Bone marrow and stem cell donation be an effective treatment option for people with certain forms of blood cancer. That is because chemotherapy can destroy bone marrow, where blood cells are made. Stem cell transplant or a bone marrow transplant can replenish the body with healthy blood.
